Teeth Sealing

Teeth Sealing

Our dentists are highly trained with extensive experience in family dentistry.  Our family dental practice is based around preventative dental care, including sealants.

Sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from tooth decay.  It is recommended that sealants be used on the permanent molars as soon as they erupt, usually around age six.  The process of applying sealants is quick and easy and does not require any drilling.

Sealants are easy for your dentist to apply, and it takes only a few minutes to seal each tooth. The teeth that will be sealed are cleaned. Then the chewing surfaces are roughened with an acid solution to help the sealant adhere to the tooth. The sealant is then 'painted' onto the tooth enamel, where it bonds directly to the tooth and hardens. Sometimes a special curing light is used to help the sealant harden.

As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Sealants hold up well under the force of normal chewing and usually last several years before a reapplication is needed. During your regular dental visits, your dentist will check the condition of the sealants and reapply them when necessary.

At our family dental practice, we encourage our patients to become active participants in their dental treatment.  Our dedicated dental hygienists are active educators and serve as the corner stone of our program to prevent dental disease with regular dental cleanings and checkups.  Our dental hygienists will take the time to education children about the important of proper dental hygiene and preventative dental care.

If you are interested in sealants, please contact our office  today to schedule an appointment.  We look forward to helping you care for your teeth.

Our Happy Patients

"I have been going here for years. I always have great service. I was early for my cleaning appointment. The person before me didn't show up and I was able to get in instead of just waiting in the waiting room. Thanks!"

"I have been seeing Dr. Risse for several years and have been very happy. She is very knowledgeable and also easy to talk to. I never feel like she is trying to upsell me. She seems to really have my best interests at heart. Melissa, her assistant, is also great. I have referred them to several friends"

"I've never been so content with a dental practice! In all my years of searching for an ideal practice that wouldn't make me feel so guilty for not always keeping up with myself.. this place made me feel warm. My hygienist is awesome and super informative. The greatest thing about my experience, thus far, is how dedicated they are to make sure they get me on the right track so I can have a beautiful smile again. As I've aged, I've set aside time for myself and this year I made it a goal to really focus on making myself happy by starting with the simple things like braces, eating right, etc. Thank you Tina for making my first visit so awesome! And thanks to the front desk ladies! They are so down to earth!"
